There are many different types of headaches, and many different causes, however, headaches are most commonly associated with problems with the cervical spine. For this reason, most headaches are called "Cervicogenic Headaches" or "Tension Headaches." Approximately 9 out of 10 headaches are tension headaches (spurring from the neck). They can be easily diagnosed as they typically start later in the day, or after strenuous activity, and examinations of the neck will make the headache worse. There is no associated "aura" with tension headaches and sensitivity to light is very rare. Those symptoms are most commonly attributed to migraine headaches.
Tension headaches can be caused by a number of problems with the neck and associated structures. They can be easily managed and treated with basic chiropractic care. Headaches are one of the most common complaints of patients at CAM Clinic and one of the most commonly successfully treated ailments as well.
