Trigger Point Dry Needling

Not to be confused with acupuncture, Dry Needling (TDN) uses western medicine principles to apply needles near or into the areas of complaint. Dry needling does not use concepts of Qi (Chi) or 5 elements as does acupuncture.

Dry needling is a very powerful treatment modality that is gaining popularity in mainstream medicine rapidly. Combining dry needling with other conventional therapies can speed along the healing process greatly.

Needling has been shown to manage joint pain and arthritis effectively in many studies, and thus is a fantastic option for people who have failed other therapies. However, some patients are hesitant to try dry needling and/or acupuncture due to a fear of needles. Typically, the only pain felt with acupuncture or dry needling is the initial prick but said pain goes away after a split second. After the initial prick sensation, patients rarely report pain. The most common sensations other than pain reported are sensations of pressure and/or ache.
